What do you guys and gals think? I will post the grade in a few days or so. The wispy white streaks down the center of the obverse is on the holder.
So you think 53 obverse and 55 reverse or, it could either of the two without committing to either one?
No comitting, Looks to me 55 details though dependent on luster 53. Then again it just may be a weak strike.....
I think it is a choice XF45. It's got noticeable but honest wear, and the color and trace luster is nice.
I'm with you, tough to call this one by the image. There is clearly either a weak strike or a die alignment problem. XF-45 is more of a guess than a grade. I wouldn't be too shocked to see AU-55.
And why I was being more conservative on my '53 call, though I fear I be more generous in my assessment.
Weak strike on the eagle's right wing shoulder is typical for this variety. http://www.doubledimes.com/1875CC-BF2.html This coin is in a PCGS AU-55 CAC holder.
I almost went with 55 was a tough call and decided to go conservative. Regardless it's a beautiful coin!
