Picked this guy up yesterday in the group with the other nice halves. I thought NGC was a little tough on it. Not the best strike... but nice luster.
Looks a little better then a 61 you can always try pcgs they'll either call it a 63 or details for some unknown reason lol. Love the coin!!
Looks like the perfect candidate for a crack out. On second thought, it has a very similar look to my MS-61 PL. Mine is clearly AU, but they felt that it deserved a higher grade for eye appeal. Who ever said there was no such thing as market grading.
I think this coin may have been judged similarly to kirkuleez's example. Based on the photos to me it appears to have some rub on the high points and the fields. I'm used to seeing coins graded MS61 that are very baggy, or overdipped, or somehow unattractive. I think this one is not quite uncirc but has great eye appeal and got an upward bump on that basis. Of course my opinion might change once I viewed the coin in person.
Very nice looking 1810--actually, this appears to be a really strong strike for the year/die pair. From the pics, if I owned it, I'd carry it on my books as AU-58 not MS, though.
Beautiful coin and I do believe they were rough on it. Nice luster across the surfaces. Very nice coin.
