i was looking online the color of the presidential dollars.... are the presidential dollars the same colors of those of the sac's because the presidentail dollars look a bit more of a golden richer color and also what do they use to make that color??? brass plateing?? any comments or info would be awsome

    thanks , bob

The composition on both is the same. Sacs that you see in circulation or even sitting around for a while will have had more exposure to air and other elements, causing a slight patina to form. Give the prez dollars a while, and it will be the same. This is because the outer layers on both coins is Manganese Brass. Hope this was informative!

The Pres. dollars do have a coating on them that is supposed to slow down toning and discoloration. Time will tell how well it works.

The prez dollars are a lot brighter and whiter than the sac's. I'd say they're closer to a gold color, as opposed to the Sac's, which are closer to a copper color. I'm comparing them to brand new sac's that are still nice and bright.
