I can't find any picture of one, but CONECA and Wexler's have a lot listed for '63. I'm new to this, and have been reading about the different types of doubled dies, but I can't quite figure out if this coin is significant, or just another pretty face. Any help or opinions would be welcomed. I did the best I could with what I had to work with. Had to run a 5 MP camera through a loupe. Sorry about that. Thanks.
Coppercoins lists 15 DDOs. If you can't get better pics, check them out. http://www.coppercoins.com/diesearch.php
Thanks for the input, Chris. The reverse has some MDD issues, but on the front none of it flattens. I just can't pick up any of the curves... Pricing out SLRs now. Haha. Jay, thanks for the page. I hadn't seen that yet. It actually somewhat resembles 1963P-1DO-002 making it a class 6 and not worth it's trouble. There's a lot more going on than what 1DO-002 describes though... I guess I'll keep looking. Thanks a lot for the page though. I imagine that'll help me a ton in the future.
Wow... Just figured out Coppercoins. I think I was looking at the wrong side of this '63. I mistook it for MD, but the reverse on this '63 looks identical to 1963P-1DR-006P. If I can find a way to get that verified, that'll make this the most interesting free coin I've acquired so far.
I'm not 100% sure it wasn't a proof. Back in 2007 I was bored and on Ebay, and I picked up a George Washington 2007 d NGC First Day of Issue for 10 bucks shipped. When it arrived there was this 63 penny in a 2x2 card and a little note that said "Thanks for the business" I didn't think anything of it at the time, threw it in a drawer in the 2x2 where it sat for about 7 years 'til I opened it yesterday. I can't be sure where he got it from originally. The coloring on it is beautiful... Unfortunately it spent 7 years or better in a plastic 2x2...
