So I work at a convenience store and I found this coin on one of our registers. Of course I felt the need to scoop it up quickly in case it is ever worth anything. Can any of you offer your expertise?? I used the same 2 quarters in each photo to show sizing differences and different views..
In the second image with only one quarter, the coin in question is sting on top of the normal quarter to show that it is in fact a tad bit smaller...
Dang I was hoping I hit it big...hahah. Thank you. I tried just googling by couldn't find any images that looked similar. Until of course googled what spooned meant. Again, thanks.
Spooned or Dryer doesn't really matter as the damage imparted is pretty much identical. Although I do lean more towards some type of rolling action on the coin since these coins are incredibly hard. Just for grins, sit down and bang on one with a spoon. BTW, back when this particular coin was issued, I'd heard that the folks in Tennessee scooped up as many as they could which created an "artificial" shortage. That shortage commanded $40-$60 premiums on a bank wrapped roll of uncirculated 2002-D Tennessee quarters.
