Mercury Dime error or post mint

    I am at a point where I'm afraid to ask but here goes.

    Is this post mint or mint damage? I put a normal dime next to it just to give a size reference.

    I think it looks like it has been flattened post mint but not knowing anything about errors I want to make sure I tell him the correct thing. I guess the only way this could happen at the mint is if the collar wasn't in place.?. Then I would never expect it to make it out of the mint - so sorry if this is a stupid question.

    And oh by the way, you can see faint reeding on the edge. Guess that would rule ont no collar.

    Never be afraid to ask a question here we are all here to learn I ask questions all the time and I have been collecting for 30 years. I do not think this is a error it just looks worn for your pictures there will be others with opinions so read all of them good luck.
