I have about 5 NO edge lettering Washington dollars with silver showing through...are these errors in addition to the no edge lettering?
man i just got some dollars with the lettering upside down but nothing like sandlers he is already making a killing on ebay
That's a very nice error. That's a very nice planchet fault you've picked up.You'd better get that done up in a holder. Aidan.
Ok. I think I'm going to send the ones with the planchet errors in to NGC....I don't know what tier to send them in under though...I really don't feel like waiting for a month to get them back.....Maybe I should just send one in under Express...48 hour turnaround....
my suggestion get a turnaround and sell it on ebay as fast as you can once the others realize that other errors like this ala no inscription lettering. Fate has smile don you now its time you laughed your way to the bank
While you may be the first to send it in, two other auctions have been up on eBay for this error, so you are not the first person to discover it. Sorry Personally, I would recommend holding on to these errors for a while, and trying to find a few more. If CoinWorld (foundinrolls, are you reading this?Hot story tip ) or NN picks up news of these and publishes an article, prices could easily skyrocket. :eat: By the way, were these found in Philly or Denver rolls? My $0.02, 09S
But. I actually am going to disagree. I think I have the only P mint ones on Ebay so far....Also, I'm pretty sure noone has one slabbed yet...
Do you think it is worth it to send this coin into NGC? I'd send it in under the 48 hour tier, an the price for grading would be 64 bucks....don't forget that this is also a no edge lettering variety....
I got my 4 Philly rolls on the 14th ( I posted the pics that day) so now I have a reason to open them. I said back then I thought there would be many varieties. I just found this on e-bay BY THE WAY, DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE 'UPSIDE DOWN EDGE INSCRIPTION ERROR'. According to the US MINT, the edge inscription can be incused "IN ANY ORIENTATION!" http://cgi.ebay.com/LQQK-PRESIDENTIAL-ERROR-MISSSING-EDGE-INSCRIPTION_W0QQitemZ200081955797QQihZ010QQcategoryZ524QQtcZphotoQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I just opened 2 of my 4 roll and found many with the edge letters upside down. I have to agree it looks as they could be very common. I hve to check out theother 2 rolls
On the contrary, there appear to be many of these coins floating around. Once people realize that you can get the out of a bank roll, they will NOT be worth what they are now. I say sell them now, and fast. -Rob
When approximately half of the edges are minted upside down, I don't think it is much of a collectible error.
Very odd looking scrapes.... radial pattern. Hard to imagine how that would have happened since most planchet forming operations would leave curcumferential scrapes if there were a problem.
