    Hi Everyone,

Recently I purchased the following 1848 10 centimes essai French coin. The standard reference for these coins is the book
    - Histoire monétaire et numismatique contemporaine 1790-1967 by Jean Mazard

My coin is referenced as Maz 1304. While searching the internet for comparable examples I came several coins that appeared to be identical with respect to design. For whatever reason the majority of those pieces r are referenced as Maz 1302. I cannot detect any differences in either coin and was wondering if anyone knew the difference or perhaps has Mazards book readily available for look up.
The first coin is mine(Maz 1304 and the second is an example from heritage that has been referenced as Maz 1302)

I would really appreciate any help in this matter :)

Looks like Mazzard 1304 has the denomination 10/ CENTs and date below, 1302 has 10 CENTIMES and date in wreath. I can check the reference Monday.

Thank you for pointing out the obvious. I feel rather absent minded right now. I was so focused on the obverse I completely missed the difference which was so plain on the reverse.
