Well I got a hold of the 94P and had to have one of these. 25,000 only? Well I now have one and not too bad a price but still a nice nickel and no toning on this one unlike the 94P's.

(sorry phone pics and I have had too many beers to fool around with a camera. Do not ask as it has been a long week and will continue through the weekend. Oh well the beer helps)

And no I am not a nickel collector but these were too rare to ignore.

At least you're not calling and harassing ex-girlfriends. :joyful:

Please don't get low mintage confused with rarity. If 25,000 pieces minted is your cutoff for Jefferson nickels then you may want to buy up every proof 1938-1942 Jefferson nickel you can find.

One of the first sets I bought. Hope we can hear from the nickel folks on this one. IMG_0408.jpg

I've been bidding on these Botanic Sets on eBay, for the same reason - to get that nickel.
I have the 94-P and it bothers me that I don't have the 97.
I'm trying to get one on the cheap, though, and so far it hasn't been working out so well.

I have had a few of these sets in the past. Can't usually get them for less than $150ish. How cheap is cheap to you?

I've been trying to land one for $120ish.
I'm pretty cheap, unless it's something I can't live without.
This set is on my 'would be nice to have' list.

Well the morning brings more patience...and better pictures.

So I do not really know if it is FS or not but it looks to be that way. As for grade, I will start with a 69 and let those who know take a more realistic shot at it.

Hey, for $135 not too bad. I thought I had it for $125 and then saw $10 shipping. Oh well....

Most definitely FS. It's harder to find these without the FS designation. It's like a proof strike.

Congratulations! I literally buy these every time I see them in a shop. I have a couple 97's, and more than a few 94's. (A fellow customer wants to buy one from me, but I'm not so sure I want to sell it!)

The best price I've ever gotten a Botanic (97) set is for the same price as the Jefferson (94) set. I think the dealer had the two sets confused...looked it up in the greysheet and everything. So, I think...$75? Not too shabby!

You dont find a much finer example of FS than what you have. Mine has the
same "line" where the hair meets forehead. I've heard various explanations for this, but I'm really not concerned. Just needed the nic.

Any ideas as to grade? It would seem if a 70 then its a game changer.....69 still though is not bad.

Maybe a 69 due to the spots on the reverse.

spot looks to be on the plastic capsule for when you look at the second pic of reverse the separation of the spots widens.

But I do agree on it not being a 70 due to the nicks on the rim

True. Just good no way to grade between a 69 and 70 just by pics

Agreed, but it is still nice to have one..only 24999 more exist :)

Did both years tone because of the mint holder or just the 94?

Several of my 97's got orange toning on it. I didn't notice it on my 94.

    Just my 94's
