I have a 2011 gettysburg quarter that is in excellent condintion. The only thing that is abnormal is the fact it looks army green. Now ive looked at the edges of the coin and it appears perfectly green where it would normally be silver color. So I dont think anyone had dipped it into anything. Maybe a die error or struck through grease. Idk. Ive seen other coins struck through grease and it don't look like this. Any ideas
Idk. I looked at the edges under a magnify glass and if it was burned or dipped into something there would be some sort of risdges where the color is on the edges and there is not. It is perfectly the same all the way around. The picture I have of the edge where you can see the green is like that all the way around. Its like the layer of clad. Or something
I guess it could be but ive looked up other coins and couldnt find anything like this one. Even as another denomination
Im not really interested in selling. Dk what it would even be worth if i was. I like having the odd ball coin lol
By chance have you weight the coin? There are different acids and or school projects that can change the color. I don't see the green that much and I would agree with green18 and easj3699
FYI: did you check the earlobe, there is a dbld lobe listed for this as well as lettering, but I don't see anything on the lettering. For the dbld earlobe on this one it is quite small. I say all that because I may see a die marker for the lobe just to the right of the Pony tail. You can look on Wexles and compare Happy hunting
I havnt weighed it. I can. And to help since the pictures arent doing it justice.. everywhere that should be the nickel on the quarter is a deep army green. I wish I had a better camera lol
