I looked, they show 1ddo for that year. The notches are smaller and on different letters. The mm is almost the same (less wear?). The motto is the same. But liberty is not.
I don't think this matches the 73D 1DO-001 on Copper Coins...but it looks like it could be a doubled die obverse, especially on LIBERTY. You should send it to James Wiles at CONECA, he has no listing for a 73D, or send it to Copper Coins. Larry Nienaber
I'm not going to get my hopes too high (since I,m always wrong about coins). I am heartened by your not shooting it down right out of the gate! Briboy07 did you just get Wexler's email off his site and attach the pics with a note?
Yes, it is on the site so it should be okay to post here....I hope. When I first did it, I sent him an email first asking if he could take a look at it, as others at coin talk thought they saw notches on one of my coins. Here is the email: jwex@comcast.net
I am thinking now that it's some type of MD on Liberty Here are some better pics. see how it's not really doubled but more smeared from left to right? the notching is deep but it doesn't look quite right. I hope I'm wrong
Looks to me that the best evidence for doubling is the "RTY" in the last picture inn the previous post
I'm going to so send it in with a few others to have evaluated anyway. Thanks for chiming in everyone
