My grandmother recently passed away, and my grandfather who spent many years as a Merchant Marine has started to go through coins that he brought home from NUMEROUS countries.

I'm going to spend time going through them, as most have some identifying words that I can search with. However this one is different than the rest and doesn't seem to come from a country he remembers visiting. IMG_2393.JPG IMG_2395.JPG

The regnal year looks like 33, added to the ascension date AH 1293 (regnal year 1) is AH 1325 or AD 1907.

    :)

1876 (1293AH) Egypt, but I'm not certain it's a 20 Qirsh, could be a 10 Qirsh. Any chance you can weigh it? If it's about an ounce, then it's a 20, if only half that then naturally it would be the 10 Qirsh. In either case, quite common in the circulated grades, and quite a bit more scarce in mint state though not rare. egy1327a.jpg

Thank you for all the replies. I weighed it, and it is 1 oz. Glad I'll be able to fill in the information for him.
