Not sure if anyone noticed, but on everyone feedback page, sellers and buyers, we no longer have the text showing the date of the transaction, now its "month, 6 months, past year" and so on.

Not a fan. Thought it was just some testing but its been days now.

I'm curious what prompted that change.

I noticed. I also noticed the link at the bottom of the page "Tell us what you think". I have seen it work before.

I guess they're trying to further obscure the link between seller and buyer. If you see a timestamp on the feedback, it helps with correlation.

Until fairly recently, both buyer and seller feedback linked to an auction ID, and that made it pretty easy to (for example) see what an eBay seller had been buying on eBay. I can understand that sellers would prefer to keep that information hidden.

I guess these changes are making eBay a bit more private, but they're also making it less of a community, and I feel like they're making it less safe. It's a lot harder now to track fraud, or to warn others that they might have been victims of fraud. For example, when I bought a fake Walking Liberty half several years ago, I was able to see who else had been buying from the same guy, and several of us were able to warn each other to check our purchases for authenticity. Today, I'd have no way to do that.

I have a big problem with eBay's decisions over the last few years. First, they shifted power toward the buyers by strengthening Buyer Protection and prohibiting negative feedback from sellers. Now, it seems like they're trying to shift things back toward the sellers -- but by getting rid of the direct coin reporting route, and making it impossible for buyers to seek each other out, they're actually aiding and abetting the bad sellers more than the good ones, IMHO at least.

Looking at a seller's feedback today, I still see a link to the actual auction for each item and the selling price. Looking at the actual auction also shows the date, of course.

Yes, but there's no way to connect it to the buyer, and no way to get at auction information from a buyer's feedback. At least, I'm not aware of any remaining way.
