    A coin I have had for about a month now. Got a for a great price. I enjoy these hefty things.

    Seleucis and Pieria, Antioch
    Billon Tetradrachm
    O: EPENNE TPOY ME KY DEKIOC KECAP, Bare headed draped bust right, five dots beneath.
    R: DEMAPX EXOYCIAC, Eagle standing left, head left, tail to right, wreath in beak, with wings spread, standing on palm, SC in exe.
    Antioch Mint, 251 A.D.

    I agree, very nice coin. I've been seeing a lot of those Antioch billon Tetradrachms lately. I've been tempted to get one myself, Trajan Decius though because it fills a slot and is more affordable than Herennius Etruscus I think.

    I wonder if these coins were the inspiration for the US. .25 cent quarter.

    Obverse: Q HER ETR MES DECIVS NOB C, draped bust right
    Reverse: PIETAS AVGVSTORVM, sprinkler, simpulum, jug, and lituus (sacrificial implements of the priest)

    Thanks everyone. And as far as inspiration of the quarter, doubt it. Eagles were used pretty much by everyone over the centuries.

    I do like those big chunks of billon that are the syro-phenician tetradrachm. Herennius Etruscus is still on my wish list although I already have an ant too

    They are fairly affordable, cant say the same for volusian in antioch tet. form :(
