Hey Bing ... I remember that you somehow out-smarted me and won our NFL football pool (that was a low-point in my life) ... ... anyway ... I was merely curious if you dudes wanted to start an "ancient coin NFL pool" (which would entail absolutely no football knowledge, and for absolutely nothin' but 100% comrade fun?) ... well, we could discuss whether an ancient bobble could be "the trophy" ... Basically, we'd merely make the weekly picks (hey, they give you the odds, so it isn't a skill thingy) ... and the ancient dude at the end of the year with the most wins, gets to dance around and say "yippeee, I get nothing"!! ... however Bing ... you know as well as I do, that there is "honour" to be gained Anyway ... I am merely spoutin' an idea ... this isn't a 'sign-up" thread I was merely curious if you ancient dudes have any sports game, or if you're all geeked the frick out!! ... again, it takes no skill except for checking the weekly bookie's odds ... Bing => please get back to me whether you're interested (even if it's just the two of us, it might be kinda fun) I hope that your trip is treatin' you well, my friend Cheers => Go 49ers, Gooooooooooooo!!
Count me in Steve, i think the winner should get something don't you??I didn't win the prize last time, but i did win the playoffs..
Hey, maybe Bing will give me back my Canadian $3 Dollar Owl coin? => well Eng ... let's see what happens as we get a bit closer (I have no problem tracking a few of us and our weekly picks) ... we'll see what that ol' focker says and if anybody else shows a wee bit of interest (maybe TIF will toss her pretty lil' hat into the ol' ring?) Cheers
Thanks Aidan ... Ummm, if this NFL thingy falls-through, then perhaps we could try and get a "swimming pool" goin'?
I'm in, but we need to check about forum rules. I like the idea of the last one we did lil brother. All losers must send spmething numismatic to the winner.
stevex6 (me) Bing (JWH) Eng (John) Gil-garad (Daryl) ... 4 horses ... anybody else (FYI => it's so easy => the paper makes your picks for ya ... it's only us idiots that think that we know more than the paper!!)
I saw two interesting points in Steve's proposal. Note how he tried to turn our heads by calling us sweet names. Geek Pride is in the house. Am I slow or has everyone noticed that Steve the mining engineer's favorite team is named for a group of historical miners? Just two questions: What's football and does the Grey Cup have any commercials worth watching?
I'll tell you just how big a sports fan I am: the last time I was in a stadium was twenty years ago, and that was to hear Luciano Pavarotti.
Hi Bing ... hey, only four of us seemed interested, so I was unsure whether it was worth it or not? (I also run my local Minesite pool which is quite time-consuming) ... However, if Gil-galad, Eng, Bing and stevex6 are still interested, then I guess we'd better think of some kind of format, eh? Ummm, I think the year that you won my $3 Dollar Owl, we were playing some sort of elimination-pool, correct? (you picked one team to win their game and if they won you stayed alive, but you could never pick that same team again ... plus, if you lost, then you were out) ... does that sound familiar?
If it remains only the four of us, it should be easy enough to keep track of everyone's pick. Un less this is against the rules, I'll be glad to run the pool and I think we should have the same prize as the last time. Just let me know. I wil be home by Saturday. I already have my first pick in mind.
