I was looking through the LRBC book by Carson, Hill and Kent recently and in the back there are plates with 141 reverse types, there may be more that are not in that book, I don't know.

I thought it might be interesting to find a reasonably nice one of each type to make a set, while I'm figuring out what I want to collect when I grow up.

Right now I have a whopping seven reverses for a start. Is this plausible or probably impossible?

How many do you have? Some of you probably have most of them if not all.

For Constantine I? I think you could get a lot of them. Some will of course be very expensive.

I've got quite a few I could post, but I don't have LRBC. Do they start with Constantine I, or with tetrarchy coins, or earlier?

Oh yes sorry. I meant to put the dates in there.

Starting with Constantine I, they cover they periods from 324-346 and 346-498 AD. Not a great many emperors and wives, but a lot of reverses.

No doubt some of them are pretty obscure and expensive.

If you really want to concentrate on reverses and all the different types, I would recommend getting a copy of a book by Guido Bruck. It was written in 1962 I believe. It has the most comprehensive depictions of these I have ever seen. I have been looking for a copy for a few years, so not an easy book to find though.

Wow doucet ... that sounds like a man-sized adventure!! (a bit like collecting all 207 of the ERIC-II rulers?) ... well, maybe not quite as challenging, but still an EPIC challenge!!

=> yah, I love it when somebody else decides to take-on such a huge endeavour!! (I wish you all of the luck/skill in the world and I want to be kept abreast of your progress, my cool coin-friend)

    Cheers
