As an example 1904-o lists vam 13-r as "Polish lines". Now I have a 1888 loaded with polish lines and yet it is not listed as a vam for that year. This seems to be relevant to several other years I have. So my question is WHY SOME AND NOT OTHERS? Any help here would be very helpful. Thanks, DON
There are several possible answers to your question. It may be that you have discovered a new VAM. It happens all the time. Have you checked Ashmore.com and the update page? It could be that your VAM was discovered and put on the update list, or maybe on the suppliments pages.......There are so many, it is really tough to keep up, so I don't even try. I stick with the Top 100 and Hot 50 coins.
More likely than not, your coin is already listed and known as a VAM. Do you mean that you could not find your coin listed In the Van Allen and Mallis Encyclopedia? Or do you mean your coin has polishing marks that are not known? New Vams are found all the time. I have the 2nd known of 2 different Vams discovered by cointalks "nesvt" I owned them all along, but he looked closer and submitted them to Leroy. Got an attribute!!! I looked at mine and wound up with the 2nd known! Two Times! Pretty amazing!, But it proves the point, that new vams are discovered all the time, and there just might be the next new one amongst the ones you already have!!!!!
Awesome Replies ! Wow everyone, thanks for the input. I well check out the list and updates. I do know for a fact that they are "polish Marks" and they are not listed in the "Encylopedia of Morgan and Peace Dollars". Thanks again everybody.
