Besides digging through my dealer's junk bin today, I also looked through his foreign silver and got some nice coins to add to my collection. Here are a few. They were all sold for melt.
Thanks. Those were probably the best to get at melt because they always get a premium on eBay. And the pesos were something I've been trying to complete a set of. I also got some British shillings and half crowns, and a New Zealand half crown that I need.
Nice stuff! I wish my local coin store had a silver junk bin. They tend to be waaaaaaaay over priced for even common foreign stuff. A dollar for a beat up Canadian nickel from the 60's? Come on guys... /endrant
Sweet pickups ... congrats I especially like the 1916 L2 Itailian reverse (looks like an ancient Roman design)
I've been going there for years and this was the first time I thought to ask about foreign silver. Usually I just go through the 25 cents each foreign bin and that's it. There were some nice coins in there but it's a cash-only business and I only had so much with me.
Nice job Hiddendragon, I am very jealous. I love the Italian Quadriga, thats a great find. I have one myself:
The two lire coin is worth more than melt - it has value just because of the fantastic reverse. Nice historical pickups though.
Thanks. I think most of these, even if they catalogue at melt value, are hard to find for melt on eBay, plus you factor in shipping, so I'm happy with the pickups.
