I wanted to share this with everyone on the forum, but given that it is a foreign coin set, I will keep it here. I started this set as a way to get my wife into collecting. I thought she might like the design of these coins, but it was I that ended up liking the design and she really had no interest in collecting. I don't know the exact details on this coin, but somehow I tend to believe that it started off as a one year type coin and somehow was minted for two years. This is the 1976-77 4 Busts of Queen Victoria series from Turks and Caicos. In 1976, they released a 20 Crown silver, 50 crown silver and 100 crown gold in both proof and unc. The silver coins are relatively easy to get in proof but the unc silver and gold are pretty tough to find. In 1977 they released this coin again in the same 3 denominations and only in proof along with a coin series celebrating the 4 Busts of King George. I believe that the 4 Busts of Queen Victoria was never planned on being released but maybe someone thought it would be a great companion coin to the 4 Busts of King George. I don't know. This is just pure speculation. Needless to say, the 1977 mintages are a fraction of what the 1976 mintages were and these coins are tough to find. The silver coins are the most common as they are often offered on ebay in a 2 coin (20 and 50 crown) set for both the Queen and King. The toughest coins to find are the gold ones. I have only personally seen 3 gold coins for the Queen and only 2 for the King for this year. Well, after 5 years of searching, I was finally able to purchase the gold set on ebay and had the Queen one graded. I am up in the air on what to do with the 1977 3 coin set for King George as I haven't graded them yet. This was not my collecting focus. For the complete rest of the set, please go to my website and click the link for Turks and Caicos. Enjoy!
Joe , I always liked that coin in silver as I didn't know it was released in gold , it's beautiful in gold . Great pick up .

Joe your stuff always amazes me good job. I remember your early post from a few years back about Ike's and now I'm two coins away from my slabbed set of Ike's. Great looking coin. I've caught the world coin bug too. I guess I need to get around to posting and sharing again.
