Hi all, I apologize in advance if this is the wrong forum for this post...

Going through my dad's collection, now mine, I found a sealed (no box or COA) 2011 "San Francisco Mint Proof Coin Set" (verbatim on holder.) In it is what I expected, sort of, there's a 2011 S Kennedy .50, Roosevelt .10, Jefferson/Liberty .05, Lincoln .01 AND a 1978 S .25 (quarter) that's really great looking (all are DCAM). I can't seem to find any other sets that have a 33 year difference between coins in the same holder. Anyone have any ideas? I'm hopeful someone knows and clues me in...

UPDATE: I found another set that has a 1987 Quarter with all the same coins otherwise as listed above. However, this one has a First Commemorative Mint COA on the back. Now I know these sets weren't put together at the US Mint and it all kinda makes sense now.

    Thanks very much,
    Rich

No doubt a "put together" set.

By any chance, did your Dad have a separate set (Dansco?) for, either, UNC & PF quarters or just PF quarters? Or, is it possible that he submitted them because he thought they would grade high, variety or error?

I also have one, but have no idea why there is a 1978 quarter in the set

Thanks for the quick answers everyone!

Chris; I've no idea what he had in mind or if he ever submitted anything..but there's a lot to go through so I may still find..well, who knows what I may find. I have found a very different 2007D Madison dollar (coin) that's just not right which he had packed away from 100's of others. The rim is bright & shiny while the coin is satin plus there's O's on the rim and it's copper red on the rim too. Odd. I suspect that was probably to be graded for error...

Treas: I was going to post pic, but CoinHawkeye seems to have done that for me :) It's the same holder and all...

CoinHawkeye: That is exactly the same set as I have. I can't tell if all your coins are DCAM but it's weird about the '78 quarter.
