What a coincidence. I was just doing a search for Stevex6 snake-themed threads because I bought one at WFOM and was going to drop it into one of your threads. I was surprised to see this unfamiliar thread posted "a moment ago" :)

I failed to find an Alexandrian uraeus or Agathodaemon as nice as any of yours though. This was the best I could do for that particular Steve-stalking task. :D

    And oooh, nice one, Mat!

Here's my one cistophoric tet-- from the Stack's mixed lot. It's not my favorite coin. Maybe I'll try cleaning the crust although the iridescence would probably go away.

You might try soaking it in distilled water and prying some of the crud off with a toothpick. It's worked on some of my coins without altering the color.

As far as snakes go, here's a Geta provincial...

I hope to have a Marc Antony at this level of quality one day. I enjoy it every time you post it!

Thanks for the coin compliments ...

chrsmat, it was the same thing with me and this coin-type ... I always had an example in my sights, but never seemed to get around to actually pulling the trigger, but when I saw this lil' baby I knew that it was time to pounce! (sure, it may not have the crispest obverse, but I love the reverse and I love the fact that the bowcase is distinguishable from the inter-twined snakes ... sometimes these reverses can look quite crowded)
