I found this roll hunting. The 9 has a straight line instead of a curved one. Any thoughts on what would cause this?
I thought that but it looks too neat. Where the correct line on the 9 is supposed to be, the field is flat and clean. Would this be from the mint? It seems too good to be PMD...
It's just PMD. It doesn't take much to move the metal. Something with a straight edge probably hit it. NO MINT ERROR.
OP I have a 1956 cent with the same effect on the 6. It's the same thing as forgers altering dates and mint marks with metal chasing tools only with these, a machine did it.
