    Zinc coated steel cents where produced to support the WWII efforst by freeing up copper for shell casings. Very nice examples can be had for a few dollars.

    I've put a 1943 BU year set together just to display this coin. I think it's neat. Certainly a piece of history.

    They can still be found in circulation. Usually in really bad shape though.
