I realize that your main concern is authenticity, but is there a reason why you're questioning it? Is there something about the coin that concerns you?

The fact that it is a key date which means lots of high quality fakes

There probably isn't much more anyone can do beyond what you've already done in checking the diagnostics, especially with us having only the provided photos. However and with that said, the date position does appear correct, and from what little else I can see, nothing suggests to me that the coin is fake, but again, I do not have it in hand.

The point was that instead of simply asking if it is a fake, if the OP were to share his concerns, it could help lead to a productive discussion about the date/mint, but why try for something productive when we can just state obvious and contribute to the paranoia.

That's up to him. If he wants a information discussion about the coin or if he just simply wants to know if it's authentic then I will grant his wishes to the best of my ability. The coin looks real to me also.

Of course, but I assume you know how these threads often go, so there's no harm a little friendly nudging. ;)

friendly to who? i didn't realize asking for help with the authenticity of a coin was frowned upon in this forum

And I didn't realize that our responsibility to you is only to answer, or that asking questions of our own is both unfriendly and unacceptable. My apologies; I'll have to keep in-mind that this is a one-way street.

I deleted my last post because I was pissed at the way a new member was treated. I'll shut up.

Please feel free, sir, but please understand that all of this started over a very simple and well-intentioned question; if it came off as anything other than this, I do apologize.

I think Books was just trying to get a discussion going and in no way was trying to be rude . If asking a question , even to a new member , is considered rude then this forum is in trouble . I like CT for the discussions and questions asked . It's the way we learn , if all we say is real or fake what has anyone learned ?
