Appears to be a 20 Piastres. Year 1937. Should weight 28.0g

    doug444 STAMPS and POSTCARDS too!

The Arabic date is 1356, which corresponds to 1937 A.D., the other date appearing on the coin. And, 2.8 grams is the normal weight for a 2 piastre silver coin.

I think it is KM #365, an early issue of King Farouk, one of the few Egyptian coins that's not illustrated, roughly $3 in XF.

Agree. I thought he might have misplaced the decimal point. 2.8 would be correct for a 2 Piastres

ok curious....what is it you did not want to hear/see ? the value ? this came from the Krause catalog. sometimes the real value might be more might be less. maybe there's a Egypt coin collector here that knows more about what the real value of your coin is. your coin looks XF and I am guessing you paid UNC value ? or more ?

I bought over 1,000 coins unseen at a low cost.......and this was in there .....

oh ok. I would never buy a coin without looking at it. sounds like a world coin grab bag. I stay way clear of those because usually the best coins are picked out and the dealer just wants to get rid of his cheap duplicate stuff and then you end up with hundreds of duplicate very common coins. at least this coin is silver. :)

I pick the best myself, not that there were many.....and pass it on to my bulk buyer......so works out well.

Also came across two similar coins which I thought would be 5 piasters but they only weighed just over 5g so that's 2g under weight....
