Mine shipped today (8/14) with order #43709xxx.

Not to derail the thread, but as a newbie to the grading aspect, and after having done some research on Cointalk, which is considered better to send the coins to in this situation, PCGS or NGC? Or would it be not even worthwhile to get the "first strike" or "early release" label?

Note: If this is improper (first post here), please just say so and I'll ask in another thread. Thanks.

Despite what some may argue here, and purely from a resale point of view, the early release or first release labels are preferable. NGC and PCGS are the highest rated TPGs, IMO, either is worthy of your business. I, personally, prefer NGC.

For buying I like NGC, more conservative.

For selling? PCGS, easier (for most series) and valued higher.

Mine was just delivered. Beautiful! Definitely a 70. Except for the lines on his neck, just like the AH proof of '64.

Just got mine in, keeping it raw. Can not find a scratch anywhere on it. If you have not actually seen one then you would not understand this but the mint did a NICE job on this one. I can not see how it is not PR70. Still it is a nice nice nice coin.
Keeping mine as I have been saving for months for it. You could not buy it off me for $1500 even though I can buy 4 more...

"Early Releases" is a meaningless designation. "First Strikes" is a deceptive fiction. Both are total nonsense, but apparently there are enough people willing to pay extra for them that they can be sold for higher prices.

Grrr....post office still hasn't delivered mine to NGC. Mailed it Registered/Insured along with a bunch of other coins to be graded on 8/16 and it last showed up on tracking 8/18 at the nearby larger city sorting office. Several phone calls to the PO and it's still unfound....

Got my two today. They look perfect but I think they will just go into the safe deposit box at the bank for another day. I don't feel like spending the money for grading...there is going to be a ton of 69s and 70s out there anyway.
