1. Turkey 500 kurush 1968 2. Egypt 1 pound 1960 3. Egypt --- last picture identical to picture 4 - need new pic
1st coin Turkey KM#874, 500 kurush 1968, mintage-5,983 , metal- .917 gold weight- 35.0800 g. or 1.0342 oz. grade/value XF-$BV UNC-$1,950.00 BU-$2,000.00 not sure on grade but I would guess AU-UNC. sweet size coin and a very low mintage. Krause catalog prices might vary in real life. You need a turkey coin collector to let you know what these coins get now a days.
2nd coin Egypt KM#402, 5 pounds 1960,mintage-5,000,metal-.875 gold weight- 42.5000 g. or 1.195 oz. grade/value UNC-$2,000.00 sweet size coin and a very low mintage. Krause catalog prices might vary in real life. You need a turkey coin collector to let you know what these coins get now a days. definitely put this coin in a plastic airtite to protect it from being scratched.
3rd coin Egypt can be one of these KM#'s 340 50 piastres, KM#341 100 piastres, or KM#342 500 piastres. not sure what size your coin is we need a better picture of the reverse of the 3rd coin from pic #5. the pic you have for coin# 3 is for coin #2.
Wow! Thanks! Any suggestions on what to do with these coins? Ive gotten interested in them but know very little. Most Ive been able to find on the internet. Ive seen people talking about getting grading. Is that something I should do? Not sure if I am going to sell any yet its a pretty large gold coin collection. I also have several rolls of pre 64 quarters and dimes and half and silver dollars. I have the coins in my bank but will try to get better pics of them.
the coins are yours to do what you want with them. If I were you I would hold on to them and cherish them because these are relatively rare with low mintages. Not sure that I would get them graded/slabbed by third party graders. If it were me I would not get them slabbed. If you do it I think the cost is like #35-45 each coin. If it were me and I was going to never ever seller them then I might get them graded. it's all up to you. I would put these coins in plastic airtites so that they are protected and cannot get anymore scratches on them.
I forgot to tell you. Do NOT clean these coins... it will kill the value. you probably knew this but I just wanted to make sure you knew.
If you are determined to sell them, I suspect that a coin show (where you can get bids from 2 or 3 different dealers specializing in foreign coins) would be the quickest way to get a fair price for them. To get the highest price, one of the specialty auction houses like Heritage would be your best bet. For coins of this rarity, having them slabbed can definitely add more value than the cost. Professional graders approval will remove any doubt about authenticity.
Vonatticus- did you ever get the reverse picture of your coin5 ??? I am anxious to the the reverse side....not the heads side.
This is a list of the coins that were in the collection I got.
