SO anyone guess if the proposal will be accepted? Do you like the design? What do you foresee the price to be?
Here's the image of the reverse the CCAC suggested for the ASE that would be used on this UHR coin. I love it, especially in high relief, and there is an image of liberty on the obverse. I can't wait for this. spock, I expect price will be in line with the Buffalo or AGE.
Don't care. Am I the only one that thinks the U.S. Mint has seriously jumped the shark lately? This keeps up, you won't be able to tell the U.S. Mint's catalog from Govmint's catalog anymore.
Well yeah, but I think this has potential to be a very nice coin. I did not buy the curved coins, or the 5 oz pucks, and I'm not enamored with the enhanced surfaces or the reverse proof clad sets. But again, I do think this may be a beautiful coin - if the obverse image of Liberty is well done. I think this is the type of coin I think the mint should be doing. The Congress-generated programs and the special packaging options seem to be much of the problem, IMO.
I think it would be better to produce a rare circulating coin. like a reverse proof 2015 jefferson nickel. put 100k in circulation. That will get some attention to roll searching.
I don't believe the mint is wanting people to roll search, and neither do the banks. Many banks accept coins from customers and have to pay to rent/service the machines as well as $$ for money services to pick up the coins in the bags, count them again and credit them for only the amount of money that is in the bags. So probably not a winning idea.
I suppose so. I just wish that they would make modern circulating rare coins. Instead of making billions of them.
Hey, every coin they sell is legal tender. Buy a couple rare coins and use them to buy something. If you want some rare coins in circulation, no one is stopping you
Interesting. I like the fact that they at least decided to incorporate an original design and not scrounge up some over-used, bland design we've seen a million times. Depending on how badly they decide to rake buyers over the coals with this, even I may consider buying.
I don't see how this is any different than any of what you just mentioned; it still seems like a silly gimmick design as a cash grab by the Mint, and it being gold will put it out of the price range of most collectors anyway. To each their own I guess... but this just doesn't excite me in the least.
we should have 10 oz gold UHR coins for the sophisticated collector. With a limit of 10000 i am sure that will be a cash cow
