I'm looking at the Feb. 26th issue of coin world. Paul Sims is advertising 2007 presidential proof sets IN STOCK for $16.95. I have not received any notice from the mint that these were now available.
I'm betting he put the add in like 3 months ago fully expecting them to be in, not expecting the delay.... I was at my local coin dealer Friday and we were talking about some stuff in their ad... The price had went up a few bucks since then, but he went ahead and honoered it, because I had it in hand... He explained that they have to get the ads in a few months in advance....
There are people who either don't know they can order from the Mint directly, or don't want to deal with the Mint. The US Mintis not exactly a customer friendly group.
I use to rather order from the Mint but my mind has changed lately. Even if you pay a few bucks more, at least you will get them in a reasonable time. The mint you never really know .
