Will the banks have rolls of halves and other they can sell to you?? What coins besides the 2007 Presidential coins can they get/give you???? Thanks
well, i guess you can ask for anything! cents, nickels, dimes, quarters, halves, and $ coins they have.
Absolutely correct. You can even ask for silver dollars - you just won't get any . The last count I saw was approximately 4,000 banks in the U.S. Total branches are undoubtedly over 20,000 when you include the credit unions. Every one of those banks has its own policies about what coins they stock, whether or not they will order coins that they don't usually stock at a customer's request, and whether or not they will sell substantial amounts of coinage to individuals, frequently drawing a distinction between commercial account holders, personal account holders, and non-account holders. In other words, the answers you get when you ask will vary widely.
I don't even ask and I got 23 Morgans/Peace and 1 ASE (and other silver) from the banks last year (all at face value). There are benefits to being nice to tellers and clerks and letting them know that you would appreciate their saving "odd" stuff for you. I don't know if there is any minimum amount they may want you to get. I usually get halves by the box ($500), which my bank will order for me. If you want only 5 or 10 rolls, they may not be so apt to place an order for that, but they may be willing to save any that come in for you. As Roy said, answers will vary, and you can always try another bank if you don't like the answer you get.
