Saturday Aug. 16, 2014 Scottish Rite Center 150 N Madison Ave, Pasadena CA 91101 http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/eve/4596968426.html This show gets very little if any exposure here. I think it occurs twice a year. I've been once and picked up a few hole fillers and sold a few duplicates, etc. Kind of small I guess - maybe 50 tables? If anything it is one more way to indulge in the hobby! Anyone going, been before, etc.?
I think I went once. A nice show, not too big and not too small. I might go, about a 1 hour drive for me.
If you're in the area, just go to the show and check it out. It's a small show, less than 50 tables for sure. But what else do you have to do??? It's a newer show as mentioned, and it will likely not last unless you go to the show and support the dealers there. If you can't go, remember that most of the dealers will be at the Golden State Show in Arcadia which is the following weekend August 23-24. And then there's Long Beach coming up soon too September 4-6. Certainly no shortage of coin shows in SoCal!!!
Here's all the information you need on the show and their gold coin drawing (35 gold coins will be raffled off at the show on 8/24!) http://www.nasc.net/golden-state-coin-show-and/2014-gscs-and-gold-coin.html
Relatively nice show, perhaps 30-50 tables. My only buy was a Mexican Onza. The friend I was with was looking to get a 5 oz. Libertad, but he couldn't find anything he liked. One dealer was pulling out Libertads and Onzas and suddenly there was this one with rainbow toning around the rim on both sides. I am trying to take some pictures that do it justice.
A quick update - I was at the Arcadia show this morning for a couple of hours. A little bit bigger than the Pasadena show, but there were quite a few empty tables so it could have been much bigger. Good selection of coins, bills, U.S., foreign, etc. Picked up a half-dime, dime and a cent on my wee lil' budget. Fun show.
