Nothing sexy like my last couple posts but I couldn't not buy this somewhat battered blunt rays 1783 nova constellatio for cheap money
I have one of each of the '92 (my graduation year) proofs. They are very lovely coins. Neither is graded but I'm sure they would grade very well.
Pretty sure PCGS wont grade this, but I still think it's cool looking. Great photography job by Robec.
Proof Cameo 68 1963 also Ngc . Here the photo you will see of my last year Franklin proof . I just wish I had camera setup like Ngc. See They must be using Black & White photos to bring out Cameo .
A couple of new Lincoln's for the collection. First up is a NGC PFRDUC 1980 S Lincoln Memorial that I was able to pick up for $4. Not a bad deal at all on that one. The second is a NGC MS67RD 1949 S "CAC" Lincoln Wheat Ear cent. The seller originally was asking over $400 for this coin when I first saw it listed. Numismedia list this coin for $210. Most examples that I have seen sell recently have been in the $100 range but they have all been dull or just lack what I believed too be a strong strike. The 2 best examples that I have seen listed on Ebay without CAC sticker were listed for $269 and $369. The one for $369 had an exceptional strike but I was not willing to pay that much without knowing if it would pass CAC standards. So today with the one that had already been CAC certified they had dropped the price down to $311. A little back and forth and I got it for $245. $35 over list with the green bean I am happy.
It arrived ordered 3/28/14 6:20am 1st shot is with my camera 2nd is scanned Hard coin for me to photograph
As you folks know, I'm putting together a raw toned 1940 - 1964 Washington Dansco album. Here are the 1944 PDS Washingtons for my set. The P and the S were imaged by Shane Canup and the D was imaged by Bob Campbell. I think they both did excellent imagery.
Finished my 12 caesars set and got the expensive Otho for cheap. Glad this part of my collection is done. Otho (69 A.D.) AR Denarius O: IMP M OTHO CAESAR AVG TRP - Bare head right. R: SECVRITAS PR - Securitas standing left, holding wreath and scepter Rome Mint, Feb- Mar. 69 A.D. 18mm 3.2g RIC 8, BMC 18, S 2162, C 17
Another one fresh back I don't agree with this grade I cracked it outta a au 53 anacs slab and I thought it accurate more wear then I'd expect on a 58 and not much luster still I'll take it!!
@Mainebill I saw on a dealers' web site that he stated he was going to stop sending coins in to PCGS because they were becoming too generous with their grades and send them in to NGC whom he felt were more accurate now in their opinions. More than one person I talked to the last time I was out at the flea market said their confidence in PCGS was slipping and felt that NGC was doing a better job at grading now.
I'm starting to totally agree and also NGC does a better job with good toners. I've sent a few coins to pcgs that they've detailed for reasons I just can't see and also several they've overgraded in my opinion. I've talked to a major local dealer who's said almost the exact same thing. The biggest problem is the markets love for pcgs slabs which is a good part of why I send so much to them. I feel that $1 is a 53 a 55 at best which is why I won't waste my time sending it to cac for a bean
