I would post my three oldest coins but they were struck many, many centuries later than the ones posted thus far so I will not. Happy Birthday to you!

I haven't gone out of my way to collect particularly old coins, but here's one...

    Kyzikos, Mysia
    AR Tritatemorion, 9X12mm, 0.58g; 480-450 BC.
Obv.: Forepart of running boar left, tunny fish facing upward.
    Rev.: Roaring lion.
    Notes: Ex Sidney Mygind Collection.

Happy birthday, brother Steve. I'm 51 as well. Little known fact: it's scientifically proven that people who have more birthdays live longer.

*whatev* ... thanks for the b-day wishes, Doug ... no matter how old I live, I'm not sure that I will ever be able to grow a beard as cool as yours and Gandalf's ...

Oh, and I will try my best to hunt-down and score that awesome coin ...

Cheers, my coin-friend (you make me smile)

... oh, and that Kroton Stater has always been on my wish-list (great coin => thanks for posting)

    Wowzers!!

=> JA & Z-bro => fantastic examples!! (thanks for posting) ... man, this thread has some very, very cool coins!! (congrats, brothers => we have great coins, eh?!!)

Man, so far, this is the best b-day "ever" ....... ummm, I must admit that originally, we scheduled a backyard bocce-party (drinks, anyone?!!), but unfortunately there was one of the coolest thunder & lightening storms ever!! ... so my girl and I have spent the entire day snuggling, snackin' on finger foods and have a fantastic intimate birthday (thank you Zeus for sending the rain!! ... I owe ya one, coin-God)

    ... anyway ...

we just ordered Indian Food (yah, apparently that is my birthday craving => curried whatever and meat on a stick!!?)

Cheers brothers .... great thread, so far ...

=> Post your old coins => lets make it even sweeter!!
