Dealer sold it to me for $1250.00.. That is about 50 under spot for an ounce of gold.

Still if I could buy bullion at that price, I would. Nice haul.

Isn't this a $10 gold coin, with a Gold weight of around .475 ozt?

Obviously not a $20.00 gold piece. This is what a 1908 Motto $20 gold piece looks like.
    1908-double-eagle.jpg

This Indian head design was only made in the $10.00 denomination.

Melt value for a $10.00 gold piece @ $1,309.10 spot price is $633.27. Retail price for this coin is approximately $845.00

The reverse should say TEN DOLLARS, if it says anything else it is a fake.

He priced the coin according to the label not to the actual coin and if he was an honest coin dealer he would have known the coin is not a double eagle and priced it accordingly.

The others are right. This doesn't have a full ounce of gold and is worth much less than the purchase price.

With age comes wisdom, my dear boy; would you prefer he speak more in the manner of the younger generation? Perhaps something like this:

I knowd u was smarter... ain't no fool, dog.

The sad thing is that some idiots around my age actually talk like this.

I thought for a split second it was the $20 pattern. Not sure of the judd #. That would have been nice.

Nah... he didn't get me, but I am sure you could trick many people with that coin/holder. So much about QA at top tier grading services LOL
