I have a 1952 D nickel. Is the doubling I see all over the reverse from die deterioration, strike doubling, or what's going on? I don't think it's real double die.
I'm probably wrong, but I think I see split serifs, especially on the L in Pluribus and at the top of the C in America.
It's MD. A doubled die in 1952 would not affect both the mintmark and the rest of the design in the same way since the mintmark is added after the hubbing process.
I agree. I knew it wasn't a real DD. Wanted to see if it was MD or worn die. I think it looks pretty neat though.
