No more waiting room. Demand must be slacking off now.

Hmm. Mine (from 12:33) still shows Order Status as "On Hold", and Item Status as "backordered, scheduled to ship on 08/05/14". I see one person is getting a ship date of 09/03; anybody seeing their order not "on hold" or "backordered"?

Still wondering if the CC company or the Mint itself is trying to call my home # to confirm. Should've filled in my mobile #, but it wasn't immediately evident how to edit it (the field was disabled for input), and I didn't want to delay things.

I guess they don't have an ordering window.
From the mint's website: "An initial inventory of 40,000 coins will be available for sale on August 5 through various sales channels. The United States Mint will evaluate sales activity during the first week and make adjustments to its production schedule accordingly."

The item page is now showing this:
"Product will be available for shipping 09/10/2014"

Did anybody get a call from the Mint asking to confirm the order? I thought that weird call I got earlier today might have been from the CC company, but this still isn't showing up as a pending transaction on my CC account, so I suspect the hold-up is within the Mint. Wondering if they've tried to call me.

Every time my order is "on hold" it's because the purchase value was high and needed manual approval. I have to call every time for them to push it through

Its all about when you get your order in and its shipped IMO. My buddy and I on were on separate sides of the country got in 20 mins apart mine being the latter at around 12:40 ish and his is 1500 lower down the list then mine. We each bought 5, so I'm really hoping for a early ship date, gonna have to get these into PCGS quick. I'm gonna buy some free silver with the profits, come on sell out.

    My order Order #: 437120XX

If people on Cointalk can help decipher the US Mint's cryptic order categories ("suspended", "held", etc) it would be useful to all of us. I took the opportunity to fill out the survey on their web site and mentioned this in my comment. It just makes the buyers nervous and I'm sure it results in a lot of unnecessary phone calls to the mint.

The only call I got today was from someone with an unidentifiable accent telling me they were from Microsoft and they discovered a problem with my computer. I teased him until he gave up.

That's all fine and good, but I'm trying to call, and each time, the voicemail says "please have your order number ready" -- and then drops me to a busy signal. That's not the way a customer service line is supposed to work. :(

I did get through to Customer Service, and just got done with them.

The rep said that the order is on a "Dollar Hold", which they impose on all high-dollar orders -- she said "over $300", the same threshold for automatic shipping upgrades -- and lasts 24-72 hours. She said if it isn't released by Friday or so, I should call back to see whether there's a problem with the CC. So much for "shipping by 8/5/14". :(

I don't have a problem with this if everybody else is in the same boat, but it seems a bit far-fetched to me. Usually in a case like this it's the CC company that calls me, and it happens VERY promptly. Given that the Mint apparently still hasn't even asked my CC company about it, I suspect that they're just dragging their heels.

FWIW, when I ordered a First Spouse gold back in March 2011, I placed the order on a Saturday, and it shipped the following Tuesday. I doubt I can pull up records of when the charge went through, though.

Again, anybody else seeing movement past the "on hold" status?

I haven't ordered the gold, but I ordered the 2-coin set. Order status says "backordered, expected to ship 9/2". But looking at the page for the set it says "Expected to ship 8/20." So does that mean somebody that orders today will get theirs before I get mine, even though I ordered a week ago, or is it just "mint-ese"? o_O

I have had the same CC# of file with the mint for the past 15 years for the Quick Checkout option. Never really been a problem when ordering multiples of AGE, AGE sets, Gold Buffalos, or 5oz Pucks.

I went online at 1200 noon, waited in the waiting room 7 min and place my order... At 1211hrs I received the following e-mail:

"2014 KENNEDY ANNIVERSARY GOLD COIN (K15)
    Qty 5 @ $1240.00 - Backordered 08/05/14."

When I track my order it says:
    Order number: 43704XXXX
    Order Date: 08/05/2014
Order Status: Your order request is on hold.

2014 KENNEDY ANNIVERSARY GOLD COIN 5 $1,240.00 $6,200.00 5 units backordered. Expected to ship on 08/05/2014.
