Ink smear? Pics inside

    In the first picture note the 12's, the serial, the stamp thing with the "L" (I'm new to this :angelic:), the green line between "legal" and "tender" extending upward and downward, and the little green dot at the bottom of the bill.

    In the second picture, note how Washington's portrait of his neck and shoulder have come through the bill. See a little bit of green bleeding through as well.

    3rd picture is similar to the first.

    What do I have here? How did this happen? I'm assuming too much ink? And, more importantly, what is the rarity of something like this? I have not seen anything like it online with about an hour of searching. Nothing this new either (2009).

    the smudging on the front is not rare for the first note of a strap.

    Years ago went to Memphis had the same thing, talked to a guy from the B.E.P. Was told that the shrink wrap melts the first notes ink. common problem. :greedy:

    i saw it time and time again when i would open new bricks of notes when i worked at a bank.
