You got it...he was described by tacitus (who is the most kind to him saying he was innocent of scandal) as 'brutish and deviod of every good quality' among others but an official reason was not realy known...Claudius in 'I, Claudius' says he was framed by livia and livilla as a rapist to get rid of him to make way for Tiberius...this is not all together unlikely as Livia has been blamed for the death of many Julio-Claudians for this very reason...and tacitic (not the most reliable source) gives this as the reason.
