Looks sweet and natural. I always had a soft spot for New Orleans Morgans. As a child, they seemed exotic to me. Off the beaten path of Philly and San Fran's...... Nice addition Biggie.
Does anyone care to say what they think the grade is. I was wondering what everyone else with more experience thinks?
I would inventory it in my collection at AU55 or 53. There is glare off your picture so the true detail may be hidden. What I noticed was the lack of feathers on the Eagle's breast and a lot of surface marks in the fields on both sides. Just a few minor dings on the rim. I also see some light wear but again, it's hard to see through the glare properly. Nice pick up no matter what. You did well.
O mint marks are known for weak strikes on the chest feathers. And this particular year is know for lack of luster as well just saying not saying anybody is wrong. I appreciate everyone's opinion on this
Lack of 'feather detail' resulted in my determination too Sam, but BB has done his homework. Still, I'll stick to my first impression.....
I'm seeing wear in the hair under the ear and maybe in the hair just above the eye although hard to pinpoint there for the glare. Also the eagle's breast shows wear and there's some in the feathers. Maybe AU55-53. Remember, though, that's just a picture grade.
I mean that the text on the coin in the picture looks in nice condition. It was meant as a compliment not a judgement on its grading etc (because I don't know the first thing about that kind of stuff!) .
Here is a couple photos in not such a direct light to look at. http://www.pcgs.com/books/silver-dollars/Chapter15Listings-180.aspx
