I have one coin where the top of the side letter is towards the reverse...the rest seem to be towards the portrait...which way is the side lettering supposed to be pointing towards...obv or rev or does it matter? sorry if I missed this if posted already...
The circulation strike will be in either direction with no set placement around the coin. The Proof coins will be letter top toward the head and will be in a set location around the coin. This is what the mint said. Madspec
I picked up the latest Coin World at the show today: Of the three I saw at the only booth I noticed which had them, two were upright with the reverse on top, and one with the obverse. Liberty's torch was pointing at one Mint mark, one "B" in Pluribus, and one "D" in God, so they are definitely random.
