Today I found a 2008 Canadian penny in BU condition and a 1996 British penny UNDERNEATH the Coinstar machine. I saw at least three other coins under there but I couldn't get to them.
Went walking past a coinstar today and Mrs. Barfly caught a glint of silver in the reject tube. There it was, a nice shiny 1962 dime. I was very impressed and quite happy.
In the reject bin of TD Banks Penny Arcade 5 Singapore cents a 1901 large Canadian cent 1 religious pendent I was so pumped about the Canadian cent and i don't even collect foreign coins (actively)
This one is for all of you who, like me, have read about these incredible finds in recent bins, etc., and wonder why it never happens to you. Timing is everything. I've been doing this for almost a year. Today, I found this:
A three-volt piece! Sweet! Were these in the internal reject bin (which I don't think I've ever actually seen), or just lying in the reject slot? If the latter, I wonder how anyone missed the sound of them landing there... Oh, and any idea what that upper-left piece is?
Dougmeisters post reminded me of something (nice find btw) The lady opened the machine because the bag was full, and then she opens up the top part of the machine that actually counts the coin and pulls out a bicentennial ike. Not as good as Dougs, but still worth sharing
Found a pile of foreign-looking change sitting on a machine at the grocery store. Upon closer inspection: 1935 wheat penny 1987 & 2007 Canadian pennies 2010 5 Euro cent 2011 10 Euro cent 1990 UK 5 pence 1985 & 2002 Canadian quarter 2001 50 Euro cent ...this after finding a bunch of Korean won coins in rolls earlier in the day.
Anyone have any ideas as to what this was supposed to be? I don't see any indications that it was used as jewelry... (Merc included for size reference)
Very first coinstar find today. I could hear the rejects as I was dumping the coins. Checked the tray afterwards and found 6 Mercs. The only I can think of that happened is that as my rejects were pouring out, the Mercs were jarred loose and hit the tray along with my rejects. I'm diligent about going through my change one pocket full at a time. There's no way that I could've missed them.
I started reading about Coinstar finds well over two years. In that time, I have religiously checked the reject tray on every machine I pass. I have found a couple pennies and the odd Canadian coin now and then, but I finally passed my judgement that this was total bullcrap. Well yesterday I found my first silver: a 1964 dime. I was absolutely amazed. Maybe in a few years I'll find my second.
