I have a1957 Wheat Penny thAt has something that looks to me like some kind of writing or a word on the reverse side
Looks like a lamination to me. Are you referring to the place from the left wheat stalk to the "E" in cent?
Yes that's exactly what I was talking about. From the inside wheat on the left to the "E" in CENT. It kinda looks like it might say something, some word but I can't make out wat it says. Is this an error coin then? Cuz it does look like it got struck on the coin. ... I really didn't explain that rite for the title. I did not come out rite
Yu said lamination. What does that mean? Wats that mean to me? Is that good or bad I am just beginning on this coin collecting n cherry pickin and am still a rookie!
Here is a link to lincolncentresource.com that explains what a lamination is: http://www.lincolncentresource.com/Errors/Laminations.html It is an error but yours isn't that big and I doubt it would bring any type of premium if you sold it(though who knows...). Still cool nonetheless.
I think you may be right about it being writing on there. A sharper picture would tell for sure, but I've overlayed a lincoln cent obverse and what I can see in your picture matches up pretty well with "LIBERTY," especially the RTY. I don't know much about errors. What if anything could cause one raised word from the obverse to show up on the reverse?
Wow! I totally did not see that the word spells out liberty ! That's Very cool! Thanks for sharing that with me!!!
