Hey All, This one just confuses me, probably nothing, but hope ya all let me know. I was thinking some sort of striking error, it seems to be mostly on the obverse, with just a bit on the reverse.
I just see some wear in the dies as with your previous, but maybe I am missing exactly what you are concerned about. The last photo shows the chamfered ( beveled) edge that circulation struck coins have for vending machines. Proof coins have sharp right angle flat edges since they are designed for 'show' and not for use.
It looks like a combination of die wear and circulation wear to me. On a side note, it would be a great help if you would be more specific about the area, or areas, that concern you rather than expect us to read your mind. Chris
Sry about that......I was looking at the face of the obverse around the rim area which seemed to be struck more deep or hard. the rim photo is to show how high it looks on the obverse while the reverse appears normal. Since I am not well versed on the terminology on the type of strike, here was my funny thought....it looked pressed more hard on the obverse which it looked like it pinched or squeezed the rim more down
This coin and the RPM were the best two out of ten penny rolls, some MD ones, one small die crack, but was a hard hunt, still had fun and learned some more on the way!!!
