I'm very new to collecting coins, I know error coins can be worth a bit though. I found this dime in my change. I'm sorry about the bad pictures, but in real life you can also faintly see "liberty" on the messed up side where it would've been the left half of another dime. Could someone please tell me what this is worth?
I wish you would post a photo of the reverse, but based on what I can see, it's either that someone tried to clip it or it is a press job. Either way, it's damaged.
If it is post mint damage done by someone on purpose it only has face value. If the coin is an indent strike, a double strike, brockage or some similar it could carry a small premium. Better images of the front (obverse) and the reverse of the coin would be necessary. You can use the editor in photobucket to resize and crop your images very easily which would give everyone a better view of what is going on.
Thank you guys for answering so quickly and helping me out. I don't have the coin on me at the moment but I tried to edit the picture above like you said in photobucket. Idk if this helps or not but I'll post more pictures tomorrow. There's what looks like a tiny triangle inside the messed up part which I believe is the edge at the top of the "L" in liberty.
Your coin has had the metal displaced beyond the outer perimeter and is now out of round. If there's reeding present around the whole coin it means it was struck in the collar and it would be impossible to be struck this way. A pic of the reverse of that area would help too. Likely PMD
