I drove around for about an hour today looking for presidential dollars in the Phoenix area. Most of the banks said they didn't have them yet, and when I finally did find some the banks wouldn't sell them to me. They said they aren't allowed to be released until tomorrow, February 16th. Is this right? One of the banks was Chase the other was Bank of America. The teller at Chase was about to give me the rolls until the supervisor told him not to so I know they actually had the coins in hand.
I picked-up a roll at my bank today. They said today (15th) was the first day they were able to give them out.
Today is the official release date for the new dollars. I picked up 8 rolls at the bank this morning and mailed them off to PCGS.
That's what I tried to explain to the tellers but they both said they had gotten calls and e-mails warning them not to give out any presidential dollars until Feb 16th. The guy at BofA said he would get fired for releasing any of them before Friday. Oh well.
Why so many??? You own a shop or gonna put them on Ebay??? Whats that like 2K+ just in grading fees... You better get a few nice ones.... Good luck..
They won't grade much higher that MS62. The ones I got today were crap. Lots of bag marks. I think thats why Shop at home only slabbed them as BU.
The rims of the coins are not very good I can see lots of errors, varieties and types coming from these coins. Even the rims have bag nics This is one way to get Americans to save there money
I was able to pick a roll today and all had bag marks and scratches. I put a few into 2X2's, gave one to my son and the rest are going to be spent over the next couple of days. First one went to the pizza guy (who's in his 40's or 50's) tonight. He seemed like he could care less as he shoved it into his poket with his other change.
