So does that make me a bad person? My imbibing is nonplussed? Let me say one thing my brother. The world would be a devil of a better place if folks would just get together and live and let live and have a few together. If all of the passions were to dissolve and we could all come together as one that would be a thing most novel. And now........I think I need a cup of coffee.
No worries. Enjoy your choice of beverages. The talk of drink was the jest half of all my comments for you as I know you enjoy it while posting comfortably at home. You post funny stuff when you are relaxed and tipsy. On the serious side however, we could shed a dark shadow where spirits have devastated lives so it's a topic for another time and place that could be had in regards to living and letting live after having a few.
House of Cards anyone? UK, 1990s. Then again, if a remake is well (re)made ... The Hall of Fame coins were or are an interesting concept for the US market. But if the mint did that again in five years, who would care? It is similar here - the French mint did it a while ago, it was a nice novelty issue, but do the same thing again? Yawn. Christian
HOF coin is popular because of the baseball theme. Imagine a dome shaped soccer themed US dollar no one would buy that it'd sell for melt on ebay. If US Mint made say a curved baseball themed coin with a ball on one side and the basket net on the other, I think it would sell as well as the baseball coins.
Similarly, hardly anybody over here would care about a baseball coin. Now football ("soccer" for USAnians) is a different story of course, but since there is no novelty effect, people may want it or not want it. And of course there is the problem that the Monnaie de Paris issues lots of different coins every year. They are not as bad as, say, the Canadian Mint, but both seem to be more interested in the "casual" collector ... Christian
I'm afraid that they WILL do soccer and football and tiddlywinks and chess and every other stupid thing they can think of and ruin it outright.
No, it was a British programme...........never tested over here ie. not owned by the US, but franchised. Also, 100 times better with Ricky gervais....lost something special when US actors tried to have a crack at the British humour. didnt work. sorry, but true.
I have a feeling that scyphate or cup coins have been about a little longer than you guys think..............the Byzantines minted a few.
British humor is British humor. Many Americans don't understand or like it. I rather enjoy it. Also, what I meant by test marketing is that many of the shows that wind up here on American TV originated overseas. I was poking fun at our unoriginality and lack of creativity.
no offense intended g18.....as you rightly say, sometimes we just dont 'get' each others humour.... my uncle says his British sarcasm doesnt get taken very well in the States and often taken at face value, which has proved a little embarrassing in the past. btw, I happen to think there are some very original and VERY funny shows in the US too....
Hey, they forgot Pluto!! ... ahhh, the good ol' days when there were still 9 planets, eh? => that's a cool coin!!
