I agree, I would never come out of my basement. I would have to learn to make money (lol - not literally ) while working with all of these machines because I would never want to go to work again. I would imagine that you could work for years as an apprentice and still not know everything there is to know about these machines. One view in the show showed what looked like a normal machine shop in the background (with windows) - I think this room is just an inside room to a machine shop. Not sure if it is just a hobby or part of a business operation??? Thank you for sharing the link!!!
This is fascinating! I was aware of rosette and medallion lathes but had never seen one in action. Wow! I'm sure members of a certain age immediately thought of Spirograph, which operates on the same principles. I was hoping he'd show more of the final results of the process, but I'll post a few scans to illustrate. There's a page in "The Story of the American Bank Note Company" showing rosettes and I own an ABN printer's proof of some geometric borders. Enjoy!
