This here dime has scratches on the reverse that appear to be under the lettering in "one dime", as if the letters were stamped after. Is this just a damaged coin or were these cuts made during the minting process? My knowledge of coins is limited. And the big question, is it worth anything over melt? Thanks, and sorry for the crappy images!
One good possibility is that the die got scratched. A scratch on a die would be mainly on the high points WHICH becomes the deep areas when a coin is struck with that die.
