Anyone know what these are? I got them from my in-laws among 5 older mostly foreign coins. They are both about 2.5 cm.
botton 1 looks like a token. it is real. Circa 1850's check these out on Ebay. Link: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2051337.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xwhite brothers & company&_nkw=white brothers & company&_sacat=3452
Yes, the obverse is upside down on the cash. Its a machine struck cash, done in the late 19th century. They were trying to modernize small change manufacturing, yet keep the same design they have had for 2300 years. They are a little scarcer than the cast pieces, maybe worth a couple of bucks. The second is a good luck token from CA.
I found your first 1 on Ebay. link : http://www.ebay.com/itm/CHINA-CASH-...4926244?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item5b01f60ca4 dated China CASH 1875-1908
I think you spelled it right , but I thought to myself it looks like at "token" so I looked it up in the Ebay "exonumia" section.
China 1 cash Emperor Kuang-Hsu 1875 - 1908 from the Canton Mint in Kwangtung province. Catalog is C# 19-7 and the Krause catalog list values of $12 in good through $45 in XF. Those values are probably on the high side. General issues of this type are usually just a couple dollars. This one could be more since it is a provincial issue. On second thought this does appear to be the machine struck version in which case the Emperor, mint and province information is correct but the catalog would be Y 190 and values .10 in fine to $2 in Unc. The second piece appears to just be a good luck token.
