Hello everyone! I am new to coin collecting and I am thinking about purchasing this coin, but I would like to know what it is first. Is this a fake coin? If not, what is it, and is it and is it worth buying? thanks! Obverse Reverse
found 1 that looks similar to your coin in my 18th century Krause World Coins catalog. China, KM#311.1a . denomination-cash, metal-cast bronze date: 1662-1722 (grade-value): G-$0.50, VG-$0.70 F-$1.00 VF-$1.50
The seller is asking $0.01 +$2.85 shipping. However, it is a bid auction on ebay. Just asked seller about the size and weight of the coin. They also dont really know what the coin is. Will let you know when seller responds!
Very cool! I just saw a picture of that one on the internet. I think that is what it is. What condition would you say the coin is in? (I'm still learning the basics of grading and any help is appreciated!)
I am not sure how to grade these kinds of coins. there are other people in here that can tell you more about this coin than me. you will probably get an answer tomorrow morning.
I think this coin is in the Fine-Very Fine range. While there are a lot of chips on the ring and a good amount of wear on both sides the design for the most part is still intact. It would probably be the best bet to say it is a VG or very good. That is... if it is real. China fakes everything... even their own coins.
no problem. I would guess your coin is a VG-F grade ??? I just searched on Ebay and found 2 coins that look very much like your coin... items #'s 131239024642 and # 121309437265
I got enough coins right now lol. I just bought a st guadens double eagle. it is available in the showcase for you to stare at and drool all over your keyboard.
Feeling a little prickly this morning....I'm trying to understand this... You see a "coin" you like on eBay(assumption). You're not sure whether it's real or not. You spend the time to find a coin website, register and than post pics in a thread to get opinions on it. What I don't understand is this: whether it's real or not, it's only $2.86 delivered. If you can't tell whether it's genuine or not, who cares for that amount of money. You like it, for $3 buy it! No harm, no foul.
It is a Chinese cash coin from the Emperor Sheng Tsu 1662 - 1722 Reign title K`ang-Hsi I'm having some problems with the Mint name, the closest match I can come up with is the Yun mint in Yunnan Province. It appears to be KM 312.1a Values about the same as what Spirityodo mentioned earlier.
Common Ching cash. Looks authentic, but VG grade. In bulk these go for as little as $.20 each. I agree, though, that if you like it $3 is nothing. However, its not special in any way, being one of the most common cash coin you can acquire. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it, as dealer pick bins are chock full of these coins. If you buy group lots you will acquire a lot of these whether you intend to or not. I can look up the Hartill Ancient Chinese Coins of the specialized Hartill Ching Coins numbers if you really want them.
